Samini unveils peace song

High Grade Family Chief Executive Officer, known in real life as Emmanuel Andrew Samini, aka Samini, has featured his label signee act, Kofi Kinaata, on his new joint ‘MamaGhana’ geared towards promoting peace ahead of the December 7 polls.

Addressing the media, he explained that peace is an asset treasured by many, respected by few.

When peace is taken for granted, he said, it becomes like a scar that haunts generations even yet unborn.

“Since independence we have become a nation that has been plagued by coups, instability, indifference but we have made significant progress as a nation rallying around our national flag,” he said.

He continued that “our anthem and the blood of our forefathers who fought to protect this peace we cherish today is aptly captured in our national anthem ‘…bold to defend forever, the cause of freedom and of right…”

“…Today, the greatest threat to our peace lies in our partisan differences, a growing level of intolerance, a strange spirit of divisiveness seeking to destroy our peaceful moral fabric in music, politics, governance and homes.”

He mentioned that he and Kofi Kinaata recorded the peace song as a result of the calls by civil society groups for peace ahead of this year’s elections.

For his part, the ‘Susuka’ act, Kofi Kinaata, said “this song by us is a call to action.”

“Personally I am calling on Ghanaian youth to rise above the occasion. Let’s show our leaders we are worth more than the pennies they give us. Peace we want,” he added.
